  • Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste1, 2002

Timor-Leste’s Constitution of 2002 provides the following articles related to the environment, and its protection and preservation:

“Section 6 The fundamental objectives of the State shall be: […] f) To protect the environment and to preserve natural resources; […]”

“Section 61. 1. Everyone has the right to a humane, healthy, and ecologically balanced environment and the duty to protect it and improve it for the benefit of the future generations. 2. The State shall recognize the need to preserve and rationalize natural resources. 3. The State should promote actions aimed at protecting the environment and safeguarding the sustainable development of the economy.”
