The Constitution of the Republic of Poland1, 1997, provides for environmental protection in its 5th Article where it is settled that the “Republic of Poland shall safeguard the independence and integrity of its territory and ensure the freedoms and rights of persons and citizens. The security of the citizens, safeguard the national heritage and shall ensure the protection of the natural environment pursuant to the principles of sustainable development”.

Poland has embraced the legal solutions in the field of environmental protection. Each company conducting business in Poland is obliged to comply with the EU standards. This is especially important for the sectors with considerable pollution factors such as power and energy, chemical and processing companies.

Information on Poland’s environmental legislation can be accessed through the Government’s official website.
